We’ve had the KTM 1090 Adventure R for the past six-or-so months, and in that time, it’s ferried us around the roads of Scotland and the green lanes of the Cotswolds, and we’ve come to appreciate what a fine adventure bike it is. I’ll be honest, though. The 1090 is a motorcycle that’s going to bring out the hooligan in you, there’s no denying it.

The earlier wheels (Saxess) had a rep for being softer than the later Akronts. I've put a couple of thousand (70% off road) miles on my 1090 in the last few months - love it and totally reliable so far.

Considering the R costs a penny shy of £12,000 it is a shame that KTM have pared back on its standard equipment. If you want cruise control (its new buttons are standard fitment) that will be an lm5OMMk.
